The Curiosity Mobile is a cross-country storytelling project created and hosted by Scott Shigeoka as He Searches for People Who Are Making a Positive Difference in Their communities.

People continue to overwhelmingly believe that including everyone in our democracy is important, and that we can and should care for everyone in our society - but according to research by organizations like PolicyLink, more and more Americans doubt it’s even possible.

That’s why Scott’s on the road: to close this “belief gap.” If people don’t believe a better country is possible, why would they try to build it?

Closing the Belief Gap.
Scott hopes these stories renew our belief that a country where everyone belongs and flourishes is not only possible—but that it’s already happening and we all can take part in building it.

Moving from Doomscrolling to Hopescrolling.
At a moment when doom and division dominates our news headlines and our social media feeds, the Curiosity Mobile elevates a competing narrative that’s grounded in hope and connection.

Meet People Where They’re At.
The videos, photos, and essays that emerge from this project will be shared through national and local press, as well as social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.

Connection to the 250th.
As the nation memorializes the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence being signed, the Curiosity Mobile invites audiences to explore what freedom, unity, and democracy looks like in practice today.
